Tiger Hill – Tiger hill is the highest point on the area which provides the most exotic view of the snow capped peaks. From this place the peaks of the eastern Himalayas can be seen which is a rewarding experience. A traveller whose vision has been entertained with the two sights, the Taj Mahal by moonlight and the Sunrise from Tiger hill, has missed a pleasure that does not land itself to be substituted.

Ghoom Monastery- the monastery has a very beautiful statue of the martyr Buddha (Prospective Buddha). The monastery has also preserved some of the rare hand written Buddhist handscipts.

Batasia Loop – This loop is perfect masterpieces of railway engineering. At the centre of the loop- a war memorial stand which reminds us of the Gorkha martyrs, who laid their lives protecting the sovereignty of our motherland.

Himalayan Mountaineering Institute – the institute established on 4 th Nov 1954 with the initiative of late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. The institute is located at 6800 ft above sea level and you can also view the Himalayan peaks through the Zeiss Telescope, Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, the 1 st person to climb the Mount Everest, was the director of this Institute for Many years and he was cremated near the institute after his death in 1986.

Zoological Park – Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park- the Darjeeling zoo is the home to wildlife rarely seen elsewhere. Today the zoo houses India 's only Siberian tiger and rare species like the red panda, snow leopard & the Tibetan wolf. Great Grey birds and Yaks are some of the other animals which are attracting tourists all over the world.

Tenzing Rock – It has named after late Tenzing Sherpa. The rock is a challenging master piece of nature's oddity for rock climbers. It was where Tenzing Sherpa climbed the Tenzing Rock in the presence of Lt Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru without a Delay.

Happy Valley Tea Estate – Here the tea from the gardens is processed. Entry is only allowed to persons having permissions from any officer of the estate.

Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center– In 1959 was established a centre for the refugees who had fled Tibet with the Dalai Lama after the Chinese invasion. This Self help centre has been developed as workshop for the manufacture of handicrafts, woolen carpets, leather works. The money collected after the sale of the products goes to the tibetans who work there. This centre has established itself in the international scenario as a place of hard work, self esteem and truth. The carpets are in great demand and are booked a year in advance

Peace Pagoda / Japanese Temple – After the Hiroshima tragedy in Japan , the Japanese constructed several pagodas across the world to bring peace on Earth. One such pagoda was built in Darjeeling and attracts both domestic and inbound traveller.

Ava Art Gallery – A Gallery for handicrafts and stitching worth visiting.

 

ROCK GARDEN & GANGAMAYA PARK (Time of Departure 9 AM duration 3-4 hrs)

Rock Garden – as the name suggests is the garden made out of rocks. It is a marble of present day architecture.

Gangamaya Park – Has natural cascading waterfalls called a “ chunu waterfalls ” where the DGHC has constructed beautiful gardens, parks and lakes in and around it. A famous picturesque new spot attracts all tourists visiting Darjeeling – A place worth visiting.

 

RIVER RAFTING & KALIMPONG (Time of Departure 9 AM duration 8 hrs )

This is one of the finest rafting stretches in the world on the icy cold waters rugged Teesta River . The spectacular scenery confronting a rafter while once snakes down the mountain rivers makes this experience a must for all lovers of adventure. Tickets are available at the sites itself. There are 3 types of trips you can choose from. After rafting sightseeing of Kalimpong makes the trip complete. Kalimpong the land of the orchids. The name, Kalimpong, has three different origins. One, it means the place where the local tribesmen gathered to organize field sports, second, it takes it's name from the Bhutanese king's minister's stronghold and thirdly, it is named after Kaulim, a fibrous plant found in abundance in this region . It is famous for orchids and nurseries with lot of exports to foreign countries.

 

MIRIK/JOREPOKHRI/PASHUPATI MARKET (Time of Departure 9 AM duration 8 hrs )

Mirik– Is the largest supplier of oranges in West Bengal . There is beautiful Lake 1.25 Kms long called Sumendu Lake . Tourist can enjoy the shikara ride on the the lake.

Jorepokhri- Is a beautiful landscape on a hill top overlooking several valleys and lakes.

Pasupati Market – Is a market place on the border of Nepal and India where foreign goods are sold at very cheap prices. A haven for shoppers

 

TREKS IN DARJEELING

Trekking in the Darjeeling is guaranteed to be a memorable experience. The combination of some of the world's best mountain scenery together with the easy access makes trekking possible and pleasurable, even for the inexperienced.
